The Bhandup Police station has lodged a case against the assaulters on Sunday. Within a few hours of the complaint, the police arrested four persons in this matter.

An Ola driver from Pune was brutally thrashed by protesters when he was found working during the ongoing strike held by the app-based cab drivers in Mumbai. The driver was also asked to take off his clothes by protesters. They also shot the video of beating and insulting him; and threatened the other drivers that those who do not join the strike will be treated the same.

The Bhandup Police station has lodged a case against the assaulters on Sunday. Within a few hours of the complaint, the police arrested four persons in this matter. Three out of four people were migrants and the thrashed driver was Santaji Patil’ a Maharashtrian. Santaji Patil came to Bhandup on 26th October after taking a fare from Pimpri-Chinchwad. On the return journey, when he was on his way back, he got another ride from Mulund Amarnagar to Pimpri-Chinchwad. When he came to Amarnagar to get a passenger, four
people stopped his cab. He was then assaulted and thrashed brutally. The Assaulters also took his 32 thousand rupees and Ola Cab device.

Scared with the incident Patil didn’t lodge any complaint; he directly went to Pune. But when the video of his attacked went viral, few OLA-UBER drivers met Patil and they lodged a complaint in Bhandup police station. These drivers associations also conducted protest. Bhausaheb Sasane (38), Aash Mohammad Shah (29), Ashok Kumar Sharma (31), Aman Shaikh (32) were arrested. All four are Uber Cab Drivers, and have confessed to the crime.

The demands of App-based drivers:

Fix the charges according to the fuel cost.
Minimum rental should be 100 rupees.
Rs.18 per Kilometer for GO cab
Rs. 20 for AC Sedan cab.
Rs. 100 to Rs. 150 for first four kilometers for AC SUV car and Rs. 23 per kilometer.
The guarantee of average monthly income of Rs. 1 lakh 15 thousand should be given.
The company has to shut down its own vehicles.
Do not blacklist drivers just by listening to customers
