The Anand Charitable Trust has constructed a big stage for Dahihandi in Jambhalinaka area. As this stage is built on footpath near the famous Masoonda Lake, some of its pillars have been installed on the lake. To build this stage, the protection netting and the poles for beautificationon the edges of the lake have also been removed. This protection netting was installed as people should not put garbage in the lake, and also for the safety of the children. However the contractors have recently removed the protection netting. This stage has created big traffic congestion problem in the area but as this stage is built by the trust that belongs to the MP RajanVichare, the TMC avoids taking any action against them.

Since last few years, this stage is being set up by the Anand Charitable Trust at the Jambhalinaka area for the celebration of Dahihandi. We haven’t blocked the path for pedestrians; there is a place below the stage for them. Protected nettings and electric poles will be restored again. – Stage contractor

During the Navaratri festival in March, Anand Charitable Trust had put stalls in a very crowded and traffic congested area. These stalls were constructed and rented and food was cooked by keeping gas cylinders and stove open on the road. In such a way, during every the public celebration, this trust overruled the Thane Municipal Corporation. However, no municipal officer could have taken any action against them as their President is an MP. When a common man goes TMC to take any permission, the corporation officials never supports them. Therefore the Thanekars are raising questions as how TMC could allow this trust to remove the Pond protection netting? – Sham Ghodake, Environmental Pollution Control and Safety Foundation
