Striking performance by Andheri RTO, collects 478 crore revenue

The Regional Transport Office (RTO) of Andheri has achieved a milestone by collecting record break revenue for the current fiscal year.  Government employees face many difficulties in recovering revenue. This often creates problems in meeting the target set by the government. However, the Andheri RTO department has done record break performance this year by collecting more revenue than their target.

The Andheri Regional Transport Office (RTO) had kept the revenue target for fiscal year 2017-18 of rupees 326 crore 88 lakhs. The RTO has not only successfully completed the target but has also collected more revenue of 478 crore 75 lakhs rupees. They have collected 146.7 percent more revenue than the target. In the financial year 2015-16, the target was 402 crores but they could collect revenue of only rupees 292 crores.

In 2016-17 the target was rupees 289 crore and the department collected 296 crore 59 lakhs. This revenue has been collected in cases like illegal number by new bicycle and four-wheeler, various types of penalty, carrying more passengers than capacity.

The RTO department has always been blamed with many corruption charges. Recently, the state home department took big action against RTO. 37 RTO officials were suspended. Regional Transport Officer Abhay Deshpande, who took over the management of Andheri RTO a year back, has tried to improve the image of the RTO with well performance.
