But we are not telling you any fictional story, you read it right. Meet this an amazing lady Jayashree Bagwe, a female mechanic who works in Chetak Bike Care in Vikhroli, Mumbai. Jayshree is one of an excellent example of how females are competitive in each of the field where males have strong monopoly. Jayshree Bagwe has proved this wrong that women cannot make a career in motorcycle repair field.

In Chetak Bike Care Garage, she joined as a receptionist. Jayshree has a higher degree in sociology from SNDT College. Working in a garage, eventually she developed a feeling that this field of Motor Mechanics has wide scope for a better career. She finally decided to take a step ahead and took an admission in Kohinoor Technical Education Institute for Motor Mechanic course. When she took the admission, there were 10 students and she was the only female student to opt for this course. Jayshree said, seeing her confidence, the professors helped her a lot and she could successfully entered in this field.

“In the future, I wish to open motor mechanic classes for Marathi girls and boys. Marathi boys/girls are very less in garage business, so I wish to start a new set of Marathi people in mechanic field. I also wish to open a repair centre and vehicle cleaning under one roof. I believe that no work should be considered low”, said Jayshree.
Many people expressed disfavour when I entered this field. But despite all the odds, I continued my work. This field is not bad; but women did not try their luck here. If you get the opportunity, women can make revolution in any field. Jayshree added.
Cleanliness of bike with repairs
After the bike servicing she also washes the bikes, diesel wash, shampoo wash as per the customer’s wish. Jayshrees has developed this confidence now that when she gets the motorbike in hand, she must get it repaired properly. Every day she repairs 6 motorcycles on an average. During the starting period of her career in this field, it was very difficult for her as the stereotypes over the years did not accepted her in the role of mechanic, but she stood strong and made it through.
