मोदी सरकारने अग्निपथ योजनेची घोषणा केल्या पासूनच संपूर्ण जगभरातून या योजनेवर आणि मोदी सरकारवर टीका केली जात आहे. अशातच शिवसेनेचे खासदार संजय राऊत यांनी पत्रकारांशी बोलताना अग्निपथ या योजनेवरून मोदी सरकारवर टोला लगावला आहे. संजय राऊत म्हणाले, की मोदी सरकारची प्रत्येकच योजना आत्तापर्यंत अपयशी ठरली आहे. १० लाख नोकऱ्या देण्याची घोषणा केली आहे अश्या घोषणा त्यांनी या पूर्वीही केल्या आहेत. सैन्याला एक प्रकारची शिस्त असते. आणि सैन्यामध्ये जर का ठेकेदारी पद्धतीने ४ वर्षांसाठी भरती होणार असेल तर तो सैन्याचा अपमान आहे. ठेकेदारीवर गुलाम आणि मीडिया काम करण्यासाठी घेऊ शकतो पण सैन्य नाही. या निर्णयामुळे सैन्याची प्रतिष्ठा रसातळाला जाईल असं म्हणत संजय राऊतांनी अग्निपथ योजनेवरून मोदी सरकारवर टीका केली आहे.
