Shiv Sena’s MLA Tukaram Kate was attacked by a group of people, one of whom was wielding a sword at Mankhurd late on Friday night. WhileTukaram Kate escaped unhurt, his one bodyguard and one supporter suffered injuries in fending off the attack. On Tuesday, some unidentified assailants came in a car at Maharashtra Nagar in Mankhurd area and attacked on Kate. In the complaint filed by Kate, he said the attack was fallout of his past agitation related to Metro 3 project in the Mankhurd area.
A case of attempt to murder and rioting has been registered in Trombay Police Stationand the police are investigating the matter, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 6) ShahajiUmap.
While the law and order has been tremendously disturbed in cities like Nagpur and Pimpri-Chinchwad, now Mumbai is also seems to be coming on top in such crimes. With such crime cases rising in the state, Maharashtra seems to have turned as Bihar.
The work of Car shade for the Metro 3 project is going on near Mankhurd’s Maharashtra Nagar area since six months. Tukaram Kate along with Shiv Sena MLA Rahul Shevale headed an agitation in this area against Metro 3 project. Kate had demanded that local people should get priority in the jobs as well as rehabilitation of Metro 3 project affected people should be done perfectly. The agitation was also to get rid from Dumpers coming with soil and debris for this project as there are possibilities of accidents by these dumpers. Due to the same there is major traffic happening on the same route. Kate handed over five dumpers to Trombay policestations which transported the soil and the debris.
At 12 noon, around 12 o’clock, MLA Tukaram Kate was sitting in NavaratriMandal’s tent in Maharashtra Nagar area with his party workers and supporters. At the same time, a group of five people the two vehicles attacked Kate with a sword. However, Kate’s bodyguard YashwantDurgoode and activist KiranSawant came forward to stop the attackers, while the fight broke out between them, the bodyguards, Durgude and Sawant were injured. However the attackers escaped from the area. Kate has given names of 3 contractors to Police regarding this attack. When contactedTukaram Kate, he was unavailable for comment.
Attack in contractual dispute – Nawab Malik
NCP Chief Spokesperson Nawab Malik said that MLA Kate was attacked by contractual disputes and the internal politics of Shiv Sena is responsible for this attack. Even though the CM Fadanvis holds the Home Ministry, the gang wars are still happening in Mumbai and also in the state. This shows that Maharashtra has now become Bihar.
