Faiyaz Shaikh, A criminal who has more than 90 criminal cases registered against him were injured in the police encounter in neighboring Raigad district on Friday late night, informed a senior police official. The incident took place on Friday late night between the Navi Mumbai police and notorious criminal Shaikh at Nadhal village in Khalapur tehsil. The thrilling encounter where the criminal Shaikh also fired bullets at Police but they escaped unhurt, this incident depicted a scene from a Hindi movie.
Faiyaz Shaikh, who was found guilty of stealing more than 90 jewelries of gold and silver, was finally nabbed by Navi Mumbai Police after many attempts to catch him since last several months. Faiyaz lives in Kharghar in Navi Mumbai with his grandmother Fatima (69) and wife Yasmin (26), they both used to help Faiyaz in all his crimes. He created his own gang to do the chain snatching and various thefts.
In 2007, Faiyas was arrested from Panvel by the Navi Mumbai Crime Branch-2. Police had confiscated many gold ornaments weigh about a Kilogram. But he again started all his crimes after coming out of jail. He was on Hit list of Navi Mumbai Police. Since last few months’ police have attempted many times to catch him but he used to escape smartly. Finally police arrested him midnight on Friday in an encounter where Faiyaz also fired bullets but with bulletproof jackets police escaped unhurt.
Earlier on October 14, with tip-off, Police had tried to nab him while he was trying to abscond with family from Virar to Gujrat. With 2 private vehicles police followed him, one squad of police halted at the patrol pump near Mumbai-Virar Toll Naka. As soon as he reached near Toll Naka, police asked him to surrender but pointing a pistol at police, he managed to escape from the spot. Police followed him but after some distance he got disappeared and police found that he threatened a private car (Innova) driver and escaped with that car.
Meanwhile, along with Faiyaz, the Navi Mumbai crime branch has also arrested his grandmother Fatima Usman Shaikh and wife Yasmin Shaikh.
